Tuesday, July 8th
As Capitalist, we all appreciate anyone or any company willing to invest their OWN money in New Mexico..but in Northern New Mexico?!!
$50,000,000.00
that's
FIFTY....million
With NM just named slowest economy ten days ago, lets all show our appreciation to Louis Bacon, Chris Stagg and the gang for believing in NM and New Mexican's.
Since confirmation of the' inking of the deal' was first announced by Chris on the JUNGLE Radio Show on June 6th, TAOS SKI VALLEY has been a flurry of activity...and so has the rumor mill. Well, that all comes to a halt, at least for CP members, when we all 'get it straight'  about one of the biggest and most far-reaching economic commitments to our state...the transformation of TAOS SKI VALLEY into a year-round playground.  An explosion of activity and fun is occurring in Taos today- But before you go up and join in that fun, come to tonight's CAPITALIST FORUM first!

Come welcome a fellow Capitalist...

Chris Stagg

Mr. Taos and VP of Operations, Taos Ski Valley,[and just about everything else for 40 years up there] as he explains what in the world Louis Bacon, himself and the entire bunch are up to..
Exciting to say the least.. Introduced by his friend of 35 years, Pat Lyons, Chair, Public Regulation Commission.
You won't get it anywhere else.
See you in just a few hours.

Jay Christopher Stagg

"Chris" was born in Syracuse, NY but grew up just outside Albany, NY where he graduated High School. Chris moved to Albuquerque, NM to attend the University of New Mexico. He picked UNM because it was near skiing and offered the promise of great adventure even though he had never set foot west of Kentucky prior to making this move.

After receiving a BA Degree from UNM with a major in Architecture, Chris moved to Taos to "teach skiing for a year". He has been employed by Taos Ski Valley for the last 40 years.

He started his career in the ski business as a ski instructor and has been very active with the Professional Ski Instructors of America for over 45 years. Chris still claims "ski instructor" as his profession. "It turns out that I was a much better ski bum than I would have been anything else."

Chris has held several positions since his first years at Taos and is now Vice President at Taos Ski Valley, Inc. He started out in the "marketing business" by attending ski shows with Taos' founder Ernie Blake in 1974. Over the course of his tenure with Taos Ski Valley Chris has had the opportunity to travel to all of the states and over a dozen foreign countries promoting Taos and the State of New Mexico. In addition to attending shows and acting as Taos' sales person Chris has also been responsible for developing and producing the Advertising and Collateral Materials for the resort.

In 1996 the community of Taos Ski Valley incorporated as NM's 100 municipality and Chris was elected Mayor and served 2 terms.

Chris has been a member of the NM State Tourism Commission since 1993 and served as its Chairman for 14 years. He has served for 5 gubernatorial terms under 4 different Governors. During Governor Gary Johnson's term Chris was part of the delegation that included Secretary John Garcia and Deputy Secretary Janet Green that traveled to Spain to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the settlement of New Mexico by the Spanish in 1598.

In December 2013 the Blake family announced the sale of Taos Ski Valley to NY Financier, Louis Bacon. The sale was finalized in June of 2014. Chris will remain with the new management team with responsibilities for IT, Real Estate, Central Reservations, Ski School and Government Relations.

Chris has been married to his wife Wendy for 37 years and they have two children, their daughter, Erin (31) who now lives in New Zealand their son, Keith (30) who is living in Boulder CO.

Chris' interests include: Skiing, Flying, Kayaking, Golfing, Sailing, Windsurfing, Backpacking, Hiking, Biking, Swimming and Travel.
